Welcome
Dr. Micheal Sayler
Welcome to the spring 2009 issue of Results! As the semester draws to a close and commencement plans are underway, this is both a time of reflection and hopeful optimism for our students, faculty and staff.

Although I have been a part of the College of Education since 1990, some of you will not have met me. I am the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Research; I am also a faculty member in Educational Psychology where I coordinate the courses and degree specializations in gifted and talented education.

I'd like to share some highlights from the 2008 - 2009 school year. Please
click here to learn about many of the activities and changes here at the College of Education.

Dean's Leadership Society

The Dean's Leadership Society is a unique group of alumni and friends who contribute generously to the future of the College of Education at the University of North Texas. By supporting the Dean's vision, these leaders volunteer to support the College of Education in ways that are personal and meaningful to them.

Members of the Dean's Leadership Society help the College of Education achieve its vision by contributing a minimum of $1,000 annually. Whether recognizing distinguished professors or funding scholarships to attract students, the common goal of members is to empower students, faculty and staff in the College of Education to be the very best.

The Dean's Leadership Society strives to unite those who are especially interested in the future direction and growth of UNT's College of Education and serves as an inspiration to others. Members' gifts provide a major source for scholarships and other student aid and give Dean Thomas invaluable flexibility in spending where the need is greatest or when special opportunities arrive.

If you would like to become a member of the Dean's Leadership Society, please contact Michelle Hong by calling (940) 369-7805 or by sending an email to
michelle.hong@unt.edu.

Courtside with
the Dean

On February 19th, in front of a crowd of spirited Mean Green fans, the College of Education honored Southwest Securities, Inc. for their gift of $1 million to support the Superintendent Certification Program.

In attendance were representatives from Southwest Securities, Inc., superintendents from Regions 10 and 11 and other representatives from area school districts and the University of North Texas.

After a reception at UNT's Alumni Center, guests strolled over to the Super Pit to watch the
Mean Green pound Louisiana-Monroe in a 95 - 80 victory! There, Don Buchholz, UNT alumnus and Southwest Securities, Inc. founder and Richard Litton, Southwest Securities, Inc. Executive Vice President, presented Dean Thomas with a check for $1 million. A good time was had by all!
