Some of our favorite quotes about Sea Monsters:

A.V. Club

“And once again, to the consternation of purists everywhere, the result is sheer delight.”

January Magazine

“As far as crass spoofs go, this one is very, very good.”

…and Bob the Pirate

“This is completely relevant to Bob’s interests.  After all, what pirate isn’t interested in the lore of sea monsters?  And what pirate doesn’t secretly want an excuse to read Jane Austen?  Perfect!”

We don’t know if you already saw this on Flickr or Facebook, but we’re so proud of it, we want to show you again:

Our good friends at Hardie Grant in Australia made their very own Sea Monsters and Zombies T-shirts! See other pics of the shirts in action on our photostream.

We asked our Facebook fans to send in their T-shirt ideas for Sea Monsters. Read their entries…here and here.

Quirktober

Field Guide to Candy: Candy Corn

History: Candy corn was invented in the 1880s by George Renninger of the now defunct Wunderlee Candy Company. It was handmade from sugar syrup, fondant, and marshmallows. The manufacturing was taken over in 1900 by the Goelitz Candy Company, today known as the Jelly Belly Candy Company.

In the US, October 30 is National Candy Corn Day. For the recipe, serving info and helpful tips, click here.

CSI: Interactive Mystery

And now, on to the other hallmark of Halloween besides sugary treats: blood-splattered crime scenes! Who doesn’t love an old-fashioned, gory whodunit?  CSI: Interactive Mystery is not designed with the faint of heart in mind.

To read a sample of the first chapter and get a taste of an interactive mystery, click here.  Be prepared to get drawn in. That’s where they always get you— when they find the body, right before the first commercial.

Other interactive mystery titles by Quirk:
Dracula’s Heir
Batman: Murder at Wayne Manor
Sherlock Holmes: The Crimes of Dr. Watson
