Fast-forward to today, 8 months later, and we definitely have not left. Covid-19 has so transformed our relationship to tech — through the contingencies of remote work, distance learning, telehealth, video game/streaming binges, and more — that debates about whether the changes will "stick" feel settled.
The downside may be that young kids living through Covid consider iPads an appendage of their bodies, and scream like banshees when the devices are removed beyond arm's length. The upside is that as societies, we'll be bolder in applying tech to areas like education and healthcare, where suspicions toward tech-led solutions have faded.
