A breakthrough in male fertility? IPOs aren't cool anymore. Startups on startups.

Only bot can judge me

Hi there,

Robots have found religion.

The SanTO, for example, looks like a figurine of a saint but is equipped with a computer, microphone, and facial recognition technology. It was created to provide comfort to the elderly.

In 2017, Germany’s Protestant Church created the BlessU-2, a former ATM that can “bless” humans.

The Wall Street Journal has more on how some religious institutions are using robotics. Check out the article in The Blurb.

Hold on to your assets

Investment banks used to be at the top of the finance world — that might be changing.

Technology and regulations are eroding investment banking's historical profit centers. Automation is taking over core processes.

From IPOs to M&A to research and trading, we take a deep dive into how investment banks are changing the way they operate. Read about it here.

This is the top

For the fourth year in a row, we partnered with the New York Times to provide a data-driven ranking of the world's top venture capital partners.

19 investors made their first appearances on the list this year, including Shailendra Singh (#46) and Ajay Royan (#68).

Check out the complete list here.

Sunday fun day

Every Sunday from 7AM - 2PM, the city of Bogotá, Colombia bans motorized transportation. The result? Approximately 1.5M Bogotanos bicycling, strolling, and socializing on the street.

Check out National Geographic’s article (and really cool photos) about the weekly Ciclovía event in The Blurb.

 It's a guy thing, too

Last week, researchers from the Los Angeles Biomedical Research Institute and the University of Washington announced that a male contraceptive pill had passed human safety tests.

We dig into what that means for the male fertility market and highlight early players in the space. Clients can read about it here.

Startups on top of startups

We’ve closed our general speaking application for this year’s Future of Fintech.

But for startups, there are still opportunities.

We’re saving 30 presentation spots for startups working on financial inclusion.

So if you are an early-stage startup (angel, accelerator, seed, or Series A round) that is bringing financial services to the underserved, this is your shot.

Enter here for a chance to present at FoF by April 9, 2019.

Again, this is only for startups.

If you want your startup in front of 1,400 VCs and corporate execs, there is no better place than Future of Fintech.

Apply here by April 9, and check out some of the lending CEOs that will be speaking here.

 Show me the money

Cross-border payments company Airwallex is now a unicorn, raising a $100M Series C funding round at a $1B valuation.

We break down what this means for the broader international payments market. Clients can read about it here.

What if we just...don't?

The biggest threat to investment banks' IPO function may be the trend of not going public at all. There were almost 6x as many mega-rounds as IPOs of US tech firms last year.

We take a look at this trend and much more in our new Disrupting Investment Banking report.
