The Financial Hurdle in Pursuit of your Passion
A couple weeks ago I wrote a blog post about the sticking point most people encounter when deciding whether or not to work for themselves. If you’re a Free Agent (independent professional), you probably took a serious look at the financial side of this leap for quite some time. Here are my suggestions in summary:
  • Determine what your monthly expenses REALLY are
  • Have six months worth of savings at your disposal
  • Pay down your debt
  • It’s okay to still look for a J.O.B.
  • It’s also okay to get a J.O.B.

5 Common Website Blunders Designed to Infuriate Your Customers from
The last thing you want is for a new potential client to land on your website only to be annoyed with the loopholes you make them go through just to get to your content. (On a separate, but semi-related note – remove the sound people hear when they enter your website. I don’t want to hear a cow moo in the middle of a meeting…). Authors Rick Broida and Dave Johnson point out the top five website blunders:
  1. Don’t insist that customers get Adobe Reader
  2. Avoid requiring plug-ins
  3. Don’t tell people to upgrade their browser

  5. Don’t force your mobile site on customers

About Stein's Way Suzanne is a Des Moines transplant who has realized the Power of being a Free Agent. Well-versed in many and varied skills, she has a passion for helping organizations and people achieve their potential. Suzanne = wife, traveler, multi-linguist, triathlete and cook.

I initially meet Suzanne through the Unemployed in Des Moines networking group she started. I was instantly inspired by her enthusiasm, initiative and resourcefulness in successfully creating her own consulting business – Contemporary Business Solutions. I recently attended her Social Media Workshop Series which I would highly recommend as a wonderful introductory source to gain instant knowledge in social media. She continues to be a key mentor as I now navigate developing my own consulting business. Her multi-faceted business expertise coupled with her “get it done” attitude proves to be a great resource for both start-up and well established companies.
